With a database of 20,000 names, SAIC Alumni Relations approached me to design a simple graphic representation of their physical location and density. After clustering together entries by geographic coordinates, I used Processing to plot the locations on an equidistant cylindrical map projection. The 10 labeled locations correspond to the home cities of attendees at the conference where the map was initially presented.
The collaboration is ongoing, and now includes the design of a poster for an alumni event.
