Chicago, Illinois

As the College Architect and Director of Campus Planning and Construction, I oversaw all aspects of this SCB designed project: the gut renovation of a full floor in William Le Baron Jenney’s Ludington Building, Chicago’s oldest surviving steel-frame highrise.

I worked with the faculty and administration to develop the program, managed the RFP process for the design team and construction manager selection, negotiated the contracts, and intensely monitored the design process so that the end result was in keeping with the established campus standards that I had developed on prior projects. I coordinated the furniture and fixtures, as well as the extensive AV and theater equipment needs from design through installation. During construction, I reviewed all the pay applications and change orders, and commissioned an alumni artist for a unique mural.

The project was completed on time, and 5% under budget.
